ELECTRICAL ENGINEER I - CHARLOTTE

Position Summary:
Will become part of a team of electrical engineers. Will work directly with senior electrical engineers to conduct calculations in order to generate drawings and specifications required for construction. Primary industries are light and heavy industrial process plants but will also do some commercial projects. The job will require traveling to project sites, along with a senior engineer, to gather information needed. Electrical scope on typical projects can involve power line distribution, specifying transformer and switchgear, motor control centers, medium and low voltage power distribution, grounding, lighting and lightning protection. Electrical engineers often provide support to the controls engineer.
Basic Duties:
- Conduct various electrical calculations under the guidance of a senior engineer.
- Generate specifications for electrical equipment and construction guidance.
- Generate electrical schematics such as single lines, motor elementaries and MCC layouts.
- Generate the electrical 3D model in a multi-discipline project.
- Coordinate with other disciplines
- Work with project team to identify electrical deliverables and schedules.
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 year experience is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Experience with electrical conceptual designs, methods and materials specifications.
- Working knowledge and experience using AutoCAD. (3D modeling software such as Revit preferred.)
- Previous experience with electrical power distribution, grounding, motor control, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems is preferred.
- Candidate must be able to travel to other M3 offices and project sites to provide field support for new and ongoing projects.
- Must be able to work in a project team and maintain a project schedule, be a self-starter, detailed-oriented and have exceptional organizational skills.
- Must be able to interact with clients and co-workers in a professional and respectful manner and work in a team environment sharing roles and responsibilities, with limited supervision.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with industrial/power distribution and building systems, motor controls, control systems and grounding.
- Experience working on multidisciplinary design and construction projects.
- Proficiency with electrical analysis software such as SKM Power Tools or ETAP
- Engineer in Training (EIT), PE
